What is the best way to measure conversions? I would like to be be able to see where users came from or what ad link they clicked on. I would like to be able to see this information for users who purchase something on my site.

Install an analytics system like Google Analytics and setup conversion tracking and you’ll be able to easily understand not just where people came from but how different traffic sources drive conversion, what pages are getting into the order path and where sticking points are.
yeah Google analytics is a good free tool that you will need. install the piece of code to every web page of your site that you wish to track and also tracks your goals by conversion tracking.
Main which page your goal is and what are the entrance page.
If you plan to use adwords, use their A/B testing and see which web copy works better by altering a small piece of info on your landing page （usually the headline of the landing page)
