Hello
On the stage make the canvas color transparent with the color fill selector.
Then goto>file> export preview and then make sure you have .gif selected and then in the left colimn of the export preview window there is a drop down box toward the bottom choose “alpha transparency” from there and then click the export button
Hope it helps
Cheers Johnny!
HI Johnny
I had the same question about making a background transparent in fireworks. I did what u say to obrienkev. and it does what you said. but the image in my case logo design appears with transparent background but it modify the quality of my logo. fonts appears ugly. I put the alpha tranparent as you told but the logo makes ugly. how i can fix this?
does fireworks have an error? or why the final result is ugly?
You are exporting to GIF, right?
GIF can’t hold full transparency data - it is only crippled yes/no state.
You can’t have smooth edges on each background.
The only solution is making the GIF transparent but for specific background color (matte) or - accept the jagged edges…
Saving as transparent PNG could be a solution, but not all browsers support it
i created a transparent background to a photo by using the magic wand tool to select the back ground and deleting it, this left a rough edge around the subject in question, from there zooming right in and manually editing the effected areas will smooth out those jaggered edges.
Then exporting as a transparent gif gave me the desired result
^ This works for specific background color only. If You place it over a different one, You’ll notice awful ‘halo’ around the image or jagged edges.
