A friend of mine is having a problem with shutting down his laptop. I helped him post the thread. Hope you could help.
Recently, sometimes the laptop shuts down slowly. It takes about 30 minutes.
He used CCleaner to clean the computer and Defraggler to defrag entire hard drive but they didn’t solve problem.
Finally, he decided to reinstalled. Unfortunately, the problem remains the same!
Could you suggest some solutions?

It is about 30 minutes to 1 hours. Sometimes, it is much longer.

No, there is no update at that times.
It is the problem of your window. Install new in the laptop.
The Windows is reinstalled again. However, the problem is remained.
You seem to be approaching the problem as it being software at fault.
My guess is it is hardware at fault.
More precisely, I think it’s related to heat.
As electrical components have current flow through them resistance causes them to warm up. As metal gets warmer it tends to expand. This can cause breaks or shorts in the circuit.
You could try a better fan, but IMHO you would best bring it to someone knowledgeable about the hardware.
The poor laptop sounds very tired.
What brand is it and how old is it?
How long does it take for Windows to startup?
How well does it perform normal tasks such as accessing the internet or opening WordPad?
When did the prolonged shutdown problem start?
Did it shutdown properly before that?
What version of Windows is installed?
How much RAM is installed?
What is the type and speed of the CPU is on the motherboard?
Has anyone ever spilled any liquid on the laptop?
Are the plug-in electrical connections to the hard drive clean?
What is the capacity of the Hard Drive?
How much free space does the Hard Drive have?
If you startup Windows in Safe Mode without networking, does it still take a long time to shut down?
Open the Computer Management tool.
Look under System Tools > Event Viewer and examine the Application log and the System log. See if they offer any clues that might suggest a software cause for the shutdown delay.
