I am starting task management software development

Is it good idea to build a task management software in 2025

It can still be a great idea in 2025, but only if it brings something genuinely different or deeply focused. The market is mature but also fragmented meaning niche solutions (for creatives, remote teams, field service workers) still have room. The key is solving a specific pain point better than existing tools.

Instead of building just another to-do app, what’s one real-life frustration you or your team have faced that no current tool handles well?

What makes your idea worth choosing over Trello, Notion, or ClickUp?

Honestly, if you’re thinking about building a task management software in 2025, I’d say go for it, but with a strategy. The project management software market is still growing like crazy, and it’s expected to hit $9.81 billion by 2026. People are always looking for better ways to get stuff done. You can’t just build another Trello or Asana. You’ll need to “find a specific problem” and “specify the target market”, like helping remote teams, freelancers, or agencies deal with task overload or messy workflows.

What I’ve seen working is
AI features, like smart task suggestions.
Simple Kanban boards (people love visual workflows).
Real-time updates and killer integrations
Fast, mobile-first design, as nobody wants clunky apps anymore.

When I was working with Bluell AB, we built some internal task management tools for hybrid teams, and what surprised me was how much users cared about simplicity over having 100 different features. Speed and ease of use always won. If you keep the focus on making it simple and valuable fast, you’re gonna have a real shot at standing out. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Absolutely, as long as you bring something unique or solve a specific pain point, there’s still plenty of room in the market. Focus on real user needs, not just features.
