Yes its time taking to get list your site in dmoz but it help a lot in SEO.We have to do submission in right category with correct inform and wait to get listing.
Care to explain why 6000-9000 new sites get listed each month? How is that “impossible”?
Hum… Tried to submit properly but never get listed , Spent lot time but nothing happened till now! May be they stop listing new sites…!
Don’t hope for it. It is near impossible to get your site listed in DMOZ.
i am pretty sure that there is nothing such as 6000-9000 it will all depend on their mood…
i think if editors out for honeymoon may be less numbers of sites may be appro:ved…
and even though they may approve 6000 sites per month i guess they choose those sites through lottery

it may just start another debate but listing in dmoz is totally based on your luck and their desire(they with out any hesitation say-there is no obligation that we should accept your site how superb your site might be…if we are good mood we will do it…other wise we will through it in garbage …our editors are not your servants to accept your sites)
some words may have been refined but it carries the 98% mood and content they will answer
it is not that they cannot do that …
there are million of posts in wikipedia,millions of video in youtube still they are clean(to the extent…)
so saying they dont have time and resource is utter nonsense…
They seem to be working (with the mentality) as if some goverment has punished saying that “you must run a directory” and they are doing greatest social work running the site and running it for others…
if you cannot run it…shut it down …it is as simple as that,every business should have some plans and vision…
plus they dont seem to have any vision …so it has been their problem not that they dont no manpower…we have seen sites bigger than that running through volunteers…and bigger opensource applications than those…(atleast they have some vision)
yahoo was also simple directory …see where yahoo is now and where so called…dmooz is…
it was just that it was their good luck that it was one of earlist directories nothing more than that…
The only reason it is still existing is because of not deserved some sites are giving to it(but it is declining)…once they understand the thing and leave it…it will perish …it is as simple as that …
no offence it is my personal thoughts…

I’ve heard so many horror stories about DMOZ that I’ve never even tried applying. One of these days, I may get around to trying it, but, from everything I’ve heard, getting a listing is based on luck - not on the quality of your site. To me, there are better things I could be doing with my time than dealing with DMOZ.
From what I hear, its really a matter of time. It can take months or even years!!!
why is it so hard to get listed on that site?
