Actually Google’s gone out of its way to weed out directory links. They’re great for “getting your foot in the door” or “introducing yourself” but other than that they’re practically useless.

hmm,i do not think it is easy to get backlink from other sites.
making relevant comments on other niche blogs doesn’t hurt. how about some social book marking?
I agree with this, I’ve found social bookmarking to be a great source of backlinks for my blog. There are also several Do Follow Social Bookmarking sites that I’ve found.
But, we all the dark side of social bookmarking is that the links which we built are not permanent. Social bookmarking tactic just helps a website in boosting up the results in SERP.
Really no need to answer a year and a half old thread now is there?
