How to apply locks on folder?

hey friends!
Are you aware of any authentic software which can be used to apply lock on folders? and also which is free? please help me with that.

I’m guessing you mean “authentication” as in “permission”?
(and not transaction locking)

If so, I don’t know of any apps but I imagine someone has writen something that would recursively go through the file system changing permissions.

Other than that maybe use mod_auth to require usernames and passwords?

There are two ways to lock your file or to hide it. One is through any relative software and the second is through DOS.

how can i lock my folders through DOS? do you know the command?
and which software is recommended for locking the folder?

and,
How about “chmod 000 ./folder” in Linux? No permission to anyone.
Later, you can undo that for yourself read the contents.

Well if you are using windows vista or windows 7 … than you can probably secure your files and folders. All you need to do is to create a personal user account for your self and another for your friends and family. After that you can set restrictions on a folder by right clicking and making changes in the security settings.
