How can I optimise my site for keywords?

Hi.
I have another question about keywords! How can i optimize my website for some keywords if the meta keywords are not important any more! I use the all in one seo plugin for my wordpress website! How to add keywords for my post?

If anybody here has a wordpress website and used all in one SEO successfully please let me know the right settings! especially for keywords!

Thanks

You seem to be a bit confused here. The keywords meta tag was simply a way to tell search engines which key words you felt were relevant for your page. It’s no longer of any use, because people started stuffing it with huge numbers of (often-irrelevant) words in the hope of manipulating the rankings, so most search engines ignore it, or pay it very little heed.

You don’t need to “add” keywords for your post. If your post is well-written, then it will naturally contain the most relevant keywords. The search engines will find these, and rank your post accordingly.

See http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=34434[/FONT]

Because search engines became more and more intelligent, keywords have little importance, and the content is everything, the algorithm of the search engine will rank your site accordingly to the value of your content, and of course your backlinks.

Myhostoffer,

You can use keywords in your posts and in your page architecture. Keywords remain the foundation of search. You can write good content but search engines still need keywords to identify the relevance of a page to a query, otherwise people wouldn’t be forced to use words to search for what they want. There are some best practices you can follow to make sure your post page is relevant for the terms you are trying to rank it for. Keep in mind that you should only be using one target keyword per page of your site along with its variants. Creating inbound links to the page with the keyword as anchor text also helps.

Here is how you should place keywords on your pages,

Shawn

Hi Shawn.
Thanks for writing. I started this thread because i really have big problem with optimizing my website. I promote web hosting companies services on my website (shared hosting,VPS hosting, dedicated servers,domains…etc.). At the beginning i used the web hosting offers keyword phrase without cheking the estimated searches for it,and i found it very weak since it doesn’t bring good traffic! Now i really don’t know which keyword i should use to get noticed by search engines! I used many suggestion tools but the keywords given are not relevant to the whole term of my website because i also promote softwares which help in building good website, and iam gonna add reviews about web hosting providers!

What should i do? Do i have to optimize each post i write? Is it easier to have static page than setting my last posts as a homepage? Do i have to choose an option to use categories as meta keywords?

I know that using anchor text for inbound links may help but sadly i found it hard to find a website that gives back link with do follow tag. For comments many websites don’t allow using other words than your real name!

Thanks for helping

Write good website content with 2-3 % of keyword density…

Myhostoffer,

You should choose an array of keywords that represent what it is you are selling as well as those that are moderately competitive with lower search volume. Keep in mind that it doesn’t matter if one of the terms you are using doesn’t match all of the content on your site. Google and other search engines do not serve relevant “websites” in SERP’s but they serve relevant “pages”. This means you can rank one website for many different keywords. As long as you have your content well categorized and organized, you can target VPS hosting on one page for example and your software terms on another.

After you have your list of keywords that you want to target, build a page around each one. Make all the content of that page about the keyword. Place the keyword in the title tag (first), in the meta description (toward the beginning), in the URL of the page, in the header tags of the page, and finally in the copy of the page.

Anchor text in backlinks is good and I understand that these are more difficult to acquire than on-site optimization but you need to get the on-site stuff right first. Then you can worry about building backlinks.

Hope that helps,

Enhance quality link building for particular targeted keywords. This helps in optimizing it better.

You need to use to keywords related to your website or product in the content of website and check for the result by using Google Webmaster tools and start using those keywords to generate backlinks for your website.

Others have answer you the question, so I just proceed with the second question.

I use the all in one seo plugin for my wordpress website! How to add keywords for my post?

If you tend to use the tool, there are 2 methods to insert keywords to title tag section.

  1. Global setting > go to plugin setting

Example:
%post_title% | AWEPay Online Merchant (The output Post Title + AWEPay Online Merchant)
%page_title% | Payment Gateway Europe (The output Page Title + AWEPay Payment Gateway Europe)

You can play around the query with %date%, %blog_title%, %description%, %post_title% and mixture with the targeted keywords. If you still not clear, you can refer to awepay.com

  1. Individual post setting > go to post edit

This setting overwrite the global setting, it allow you to out different title and description tag.
