I’ve got a client who wants a simple reservation system for their hotel in Italy, with around 10 rooms available each night.
Ideally people should be able to reserve a room and give CC details but not be charged. (I suspect that might be a PCI compliance nightmare though - in which case we may need to take the full fee or a deposit when they book. My client mainly wants people to have given their CC details as in his experience people are more likely to just not turn up otherwise.)
I’ve been thinking it might be good to find a SaaS solution to this - would be nice to outsource it and not be responsible myself for the system. Does anyone know of a good system, perhaps one that works on commission, for this kind of thing?
yeah afaik they are standalone sites, as you say surely there are api type engines you could integrate with your site, but unfortunately I don’t know of any.
wotif.com and hotels.com come to mind - I haven’t seen the backend of either but have recently used the frontend of both to travel internationally (including Italy), and it was a very pleasant booking experience.
Thanks wheeler. Unless I’m missing something, are these not just booking sites in their own right? Or do they have a way to integrate with other sites? I was thinking more of a white-label software-as-a-service thing, so that people wouldn’t be aware they’re leaving the hotel’s site. Siteminder is one example I’ve found, but I’m guessing there must be lots more out there… Any ideas?
You can use Reseliva, since the system is hosted and managed by own servers, it will not create a headache for you. All you will have to do will be placing the related link on the website.
As far as I’ve seen in Europe when hotels offer jobs in IT department, they want that you are familiar with Amadeus… (~;

Did you try Hotelpress yet? I think it match your requirement, except save CC information. They use Paypal as payment system, you can choose 0% to 100% when charge a customer.
