Email on iPad & PC

Hi All

I really hope someone can help me.

I have about 6 POP email accounts that run on my Outlook 2010 & all come into the one inbox for me to sort into numerous PST files.

I have just bought and iPad and want to be able to do my email on the go.

I want both the iPad & the PC to automatically be kept up to date so I don’t have to syncrinise each time I do between the two.

I thought MobileMe would do what I wanted but it doesn’t. I have had alook at IMAP but I do not have enough server space for all my email on the server.

The ideal situation would to be to have the server manage the email for say 7 days & then it is deleted. This will work with POP for incoming email but not for sent items and folders.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks for any help.

Ditch whoever it is you are using for mail, transition over to google apps, problem solved.

I have email at several different domain names that I check and reply from so I don’t think Google apps will work.

Any other ideas?

Use logmein.com to access the PC and forget about managing mail on the iPad natively?

Hi

Thanks for your suggestion however that will not work either as the laptop that has the email on it is not always on so it can’t be remotely connected to.

The idea is when I am out and about I can quickly and easily stay on top of email without having to drag my laptop everywhere.

Any other suggestions?

How about using IMAP and periodically moving messages off the server to local storage so you don’t exceed your quota.

Thanks for your help… I don’t think that will work either as I think IMAP updates everything so if you remove email from the server it is gone unless it is in a separage file that then is not accessable everywhere.

I have been looking into this still and thinking about it and I think the only way to do it is POP and leave email on the server for so many days for the incoming and sync the iPad and laptop all the time.

Several domains could work – pick the one you like, setup your google apps to pull in POP email from other domains.

Hi

Thanks… it is not a matter of a domain name I like… I have email on my personal domain, email on my main company domain, email on my secondary company domain, email for a separate division of that company and email form a company that I am State Manager for.

All email addresses have to be run separately and cannot be merged.

There’s really just going to be a limit to what you can do with an iPad…the platform has just been scaled down too far. You might have to start looking into other computing devices if the aforementioned suggestions won’t do the job.

Gotcha. We’ve got upwards of a half dozen different domains that take email. No issues punching them through one mail server so we have one account per user.

As for the google angle, gmail can be a POP3 client so you would just pull everything into your gmail inbox and manage it from there.
