My message above was directed at force flow. We are not alone!!!
Thats an interesting point.
See, I think there could be life out there. I also think that it wouldn’t come within a lightyear of us.
Partly because the likelyhood of them reaching such heights of spacetravel is a lot less than the likelyhood of them even existing. Also because any species with a decent amount of intelligence only needs to look at our TV broadcasts (if they could translate the signals into audio/video, which is admittedly less likely) to realise what a greedy and corrupt species we are - I think they’d find it insulting to themselves to call us ‘intelligent’.
Aliens like from the ones in Aliens movie or E.T. movie?
sorry. But it inspires me so much. How can I re-size it?
Without doubt there is, and always has been other forms of life somewhere out there in the universe. And they have been visiting Earth for thousands of years. Just take a look at some of the ancient paintings, drawings and texts etc. Clearly showing, and explaining the visiting of UFO,s and aliens on Earth. The government have been trying to hide this from the people for a long time, but people aren’t stupid. The truth will always come out in the end.
I believe in Aliens and UFO’s :agree:
What was the picture? Now I’m curious
Why do I get the feeling that whatever link I was to post, or whatever story I talked about you would not beleive it for one reason or another anyway…
Just do your research and decide for yourself whether you “know” aliens exist or not.
For me it’s clear to see.
Have a nice day
I believe that at some time and place in that big heap of spacetime we call our universe, there is another form of life that has progressed enough to classify it as intelligent.
Whether or not is has been and gone, is still here, or is yet to come is another matter - but galaxies are absolutely gigantic, and there are hundreds of billions of galaxies inside the universe. Surely somewhere another form of life has evolved?
And by life, I don’t necessarily mean made out of the same stuff as us. Of course, without oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, phosphor, nitrogen etc in the perfect order they’re in, we wouldn’t be anything like what we are now - but who said it even needs to be made out of atoms? Heck, what’s to say the universe itself isn’t a living organism?
One thing is for sure - anything out there is unlikely to be anything like us, and we may not even recognise it as life. It all depends on your definition of life - If, for example, your definition of life is ‘a set of processes which take energy from other processes to create more processes similar to itself’, you could call a laser a habitat - the ‘life’ concerned being photons. If you define life as a set of chemical reactions forming together to produce a single entity which is able to convert other chemicals into versions of itself (just a chemical abstract of the above), you have bacteria - or maybe an acid/base buffer solution (to a certain extent).
So, for us to be able to answer this properly, we need your definition of life!
Only for your eyes…

Couldn’t you find a bigger image?
[FONT=“Georgia”]Of course that’s possible, but as far as coming up with estimates go, all we can base our calculations on is what we already know/observed (ie. life as we’ve seen it here).
Beyond that is speculation, and you can’t base an equation on speculation and expect the answer to be right unless you’re damn lucky.

Show me some hard facts and proof and I won’t have to believe…I’ll know
Do the extraterrestrials believe in us ??
All are attributes of our planet that life on the planet has adapted to, and thus needs to survive.
What’s to say that potential life elsewhere doesn’t need one or any of those factors? Maybe a sulfur-based life form won’t need the same atmospheric conditions. Maybe another type of life form can’t survive in weather below 120’F. Maybe another life form with a metallic exoskeleton to protect from what we would see has harmful gamma rays. Maybe they would need gamma rays to survive.
Heck, there are some deep sea creatures on our planet that need the extreme pressure of those extreme depths to survive or they’ll explode. There’s some creatures who wouldn’t survive those pressures and would implode instead.
There are a lot a variables you can debate about and mess around with.
No reason to believe in such a thing. Ah, I forgot. There’s “clear evidence”: http://science-explorer.de/bilder/ufobilderindex.htm
[FONT=“Georgia”]I know. And based on scenarios we aren’t even sure about yet.
As we know it, based on the only planet we’ve so far observed to have life, it seems we also need a planet with a large moon to maintain tides and seasons. We need a method of sweeping up harmful, mass-extinction-causing debris, like our Jupiter. We need a molten core of iron to maintain a magnetic field therefore to keep our atmosphere. We need to not be close to a magnetar or anything else that can pop us with gamma rays. All those factors they didn’t know about in 1961.
Hell, it might even be necessary for a timely extinction to allow whatever more intelligent life to take over the planet, as happened here. Who knows.
So, like I said, the Universe is so damn big, I have no doubt that there’s some place out there very much like here. If you play the odds, I’m sure you’ll find it.
But I still know that equation is no-where near right.
As I said up there though, any life we find will be damn interesting anyway. I’m not picky.

Fine, let’s leave that, I’m not qualified to comment on it either way. Whether there’s 1 ET civilisation out there or 50 million it still begs the question of where are they and why don’t we see evidence of them?
You still haven’t commented on the Fermi paradox, I think it’s very relevant to this discussion, more so than anything else we’ve discussed in fact.
I don’t NOT believe in them (double negative, I know). However, I am not convinced that they are flying around spying on us or kidnapping us. There has to be intelligent life out there, and if they are smart enough, they are staying the h*ll away from here.
