Ever since I launch my site I have been getting emails from various people. Most of which shows that at least my site can be easily found.
The most recent email is asking for me to put an advert on my website, on a specific page on the very top of the page, and the person in question is willing to give me some money. Unfortunately I have no experience in this, and if I was to proceed I would not know what to charge. Can anybody assist me.
Your decision should depend on your goal. If you would like to have strictly business website that should look clear for the customers - then it is better not to use advertisements.
If you would like to earn some money by ads - then ask this person what budget they have, how much they are ready to pay, maybe the amount is even not worth considering. If you finally allow advertising, you could place only ads related to your business topic somehow, in this case ads won’t make the site look messy.
It depends on so many factors. First of all you do not have any adsense links on it, so it does not seem to me like you are monetizing your site. I for example would consider it depending where they want to place it. You may want to place some restrictions and ask them to write the add a certain way. Sure, you do not want your site to look like a marketplace where all is welcomed but you are also a business person. Consider all things before deciding, take a look at this person’s site and make sure it has some sort of value for you.

I join to casbboy’s opinion and think that you better not put banners/commercials. For 8-10$ a month, It’s not that valuble.
