Hello, just wanted an idear of how long it roughly takes to be ranked for a highly competitve keyword? Any help would be great, thanks.
People who have top spots on highly competitive keywords make good money with their sites and they invest good chunk of their income to stay where they are so you would have hard time to fight with that.
As long as it takes. It could be weeks, it could be months, it could be millennia. It’s a question that has no answer that is remotely accurate or useful.
It depends on how long you work and the strength of backlinks that you’re getting.
It depends on your backlinks from where you got. If you have authoritative and relevant backlinks you may be ranked soon. Otherwise analyze your competitor and try to get links from where he get.
How long is a piece of string?
I don’t think it can take a millinnea to get a ranking in a keyword. Some right tactics can help you with a good ranking.
if the rankings is very competitive theres no impossible to reach the top just continue link building and develop effective techniques.
Thanks for the comments
Authority of links plays a major role in deciding the rankings of keywords.
Well it really depends on the degree of competition. It will take you 6 months to even a year to get a good ranking for a competitive keyword. I suggest you opt for long-tail ones. They are less competitive but can still generate decent search volume.
You should try to use Google Keyword tool and look for keywords that have min 1000 searches but less competition.
You may also consider using IBP, Market Samurai or Micro Niche Finder to research keywords. Don’t try to free version of WordTracker anymore.
keyword ranking become popular when the keywords visible more site and visitors automatically click and become popular.

It really depends on your page rank, how long you have been trying to obtain that keyword and also how relevant your website is to the keyword
All that needs to be said has been said.
