Change Color of Gradient

Paul O’ - here at SitePoint - was nice enough to create a gradient slice for me to use in the background to create a dynamic button.

It looks great, except I’d like to create a couple of different color buttons.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any apps to do something like this. (Not to mention that I also lack the know-how to do this?!)

Is there an easy way to change the color of a gradient image?

Attached is the slice I’d like in different colors…

Thanks,

Debbie

It’s better to have the original file. So you don’t have Photoshop? You can download free equivalents like Gimp or Picasa, and there are plenty of online equivalents, such as

Gonna loan me a couple thousand, there, Ralph?!

I have been wanting to use Gimp, but the online documentation is sparse.

If I could find someone to help me out with Gimp, that’d be awesome…

For something as simple as a gradient, I’d say try out some one those online things or Picasa for now, to get the job done.

Do you have any experience with Gimp?

And back to my original question…

Is there a way to take a gradient image and change the color?

(I was hoping I could tell the computer, “Take this blue gradient and everywhere you see ‘dark blue’ replace it with ‘dark yellow’ and everywhere you see ‘light blue’ replace it with ‘light yellow’”)

No, sorry, but others around here do.

You can do that with Photoshop, but I’m not sure about other programs. Still, I’m not sure the result would be great, especially on a small image like the one you posted. I’d still much rather do it in the original file.
