besides proper coding technique and keyword understanding you can also put into consideration the content of the page.
I have seen so many people trying to rank with content so lousy that it almost made me puke.
content is king - unique and quality content. regular update, paid listings, marketing of your page and the understanding of link building is other things here.
but i think one of the biggest thing to this is, the understanding of marketing. can you market your site and what you do, - can you market yourself?
too many people seems to miss the value of marketing, and puts all their work into the fields of coding…
That means that you need to know about google Adwords / Adsense (although Adwords is the only one that will affect you directly, as a SEO expert), Google Analytics, Website Optimizer and Webmaster Central.
This will help you to understand and introduce yourself with classical SEO: optimizing code, keywords, Pay-per-Click campaigns and this type of things.
Now SEO also is affected by social marketing and that would be a different story.
Its taken me the best part of 2 years to get some form of understanding on how SEO works and its been trial and error but i have enjoyed the learning curve,another thing i would also mention its ongoing and you also have to adapt with new techniques to keep ahead of the competition.
Knowledge is power. Make sure you are doing searches online and reading/learning continually to become an SEO expert. This will take time, patience and hard-work!
Sorry to say it but you can’t become an expert in any subject “fast”, that’s about as valid an ideal as “get rich quick”. Most people who study a field spend years getting the experience and skill they need to determine what will do the job best. Asking to become an “expert” in something with little to no time is the equivalent of saying that somehow there must be some secret way of getting the same level of skill as someone who’s been doing it for eons (and thereby they have been wasting their time). While you can pick up the essentials of a subject fairly quickly, expecting to become of an expert level is an unrealistic expectation. You don’t get anywhere in this world by expecting fast results, if you want to become an expert, do like every other professional and spend the time working or learning.
Knowledge and experience comes with practice. It will take some time. SEO is the process of on page and off page optimization. Try to learn the small to big things, implement them, learn from your mistakes and improve it. This process will give experience and success.
If you know how to code HTML correctly, then your site is already search-engine optimised. If you know HTML, you know how a <title> tag works, what the <meta> description tag is for, how to use an <h1> and why you should only have one of them, to mark up lists and lists, tables and tables, forms as forms, and alt text for any HTML images that are true content.
You know HTML already so I wondered if by “SEO” you meant “SEM” (search engine marketing) which is splash pages, calls-to-action, pay-per-click, advertising, keyword research, etc. That’s likely not anything you’re going to become an expert in fast… heck, can be become experts in anything fast?? : )
Copywriting and good use of keywords might be somewhere between the two, but SEO to me means “code does not get in the way of spider indexing and helps spiders know more about the content and what in the content is important”.
To become an seo expert you need to be patient…Because seo is not one night success…Google it for seo and read articles related to seo and try to implement those ideas…
I believe that is possible to be come an expert in any sphere only through working in this sphere for a LONG time. That is impossible to become an expert fast.
So do not be in a hurry
Becoming an SEO expert involves lot of research, understanding and implementation. Just start searching google … go through lots of advice available there … try to understand what will work and what will not work…
