Test & Repair Engineer

Morson Technical Services are currently looking to recruit a Test and Repair Engineer to work at Rollestone, Salisbury, Wiltshire. This is a 6 month contract initially. JOB PURPOSE The Test and Repair Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the spare assets are available in the correct location, at the correct time and are configured to the correct build standard. This will involve undertaking asset repairs as well as managing repair Agents and Vendors to ensure optimum spares stock is maintained. MAIN ACTIVITIES AND TASKS The Test and Repair Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the return of suspect equipment from the field allocated to them. This may include updating the history within the Service Management Tool / CMDB, Engineering evaluations, verifying failure modes, dispatching to OEM for repair, where possible undertake in-house repairs, return of items into spare's store / field. This includes • Facilitate investigation and repair of spare assets returned from the Field Support Engineers • Testing new items or loading / reloading items with software / firmware / BIOS / IOS, etc. • Updating repair history in the CMDB, functional test and build standard checks, generation of test reports returning serviceable items to spares storage locations • Respond to requests for work from the Service Desk, and Management Team, updating stock and repair history • Goods in-wards receipting and inspection of all items delivered to the business • Ensuring that the allocated Test and Repair functions are carried out in accordance with issued processes and procedures in an efficient manner • Liaising with Suppliers / Manufactures regarding warranties and repairs • Establishing and maintaining correct build standard of new and returned items • Liaising with the logistics supplier and FSE's to ensure required stock levels are maintained in the field • Interfacing with the Service Desk Agents and the service management tool to accurately record all actions undertaken • Provide comprehensive failure reports detailing the investigation, fault resolution and any follow up work that may be necessary • Collaboration with Service Management Teams, Project Teams and the Customer to ensure effective customer focused resolution of repairs • Creation and maintenance of documentation relevant to supported products • Undertake stock audits across various spares locations • Accurately record and submit (within a timely manner) all routine documentation including timesheets and other work related administration • Responsibilities will vary according to the changing requirements of the business • There will also be occasional requirements to undertake other Engineering related activities in the field appropriate to skill set Applicants will ideally have working knowledge of the following: • Experience working in an electrical / mechanical technical workshop • Broad (but not deep) IT knowledge • Ability to accurately articulate technical work undertaken • Must have a strong understanding of working within a confidential environment • Team player with a proactive attitude • Flexibility in approach and willingness to take on new challenges combined with the ability to work under pressure in a demanding environment
