I would like to start selling ad space on my site...

However, I have not done this before. What I would like to know is how do most of you charge your clients? Do all of you use paypal? or something else?

Another thing is that I want clients to be able to purchase space through the Net and offline for those businesses who are not yet on the web. Have any of you had this experience and how do you handle it?

Lastly, are there any good articles out there that talk about ads on the internet and what is involved.

Thanks,
Nu1

I use paypal, but certain not everyone does. I don't go looking for clients as I handle most ads through networks but I have sold a few spots on my site. The client usually approaches me and I give a price and usually they agree with it and we work out payment terms.

ive used paypal and also received checks, some company's prefer to have an invoice faxed to them. i also have an "affiliate" page on my forums where it lists my current sponsors, the sponsor for the monthly photo assignment, affiliates and photographers (my moderators) and at the bottom is a line that says - if you are interested in advertising on here, please email....."

if your going to seek out advertisers though, make sure you have all the data about your sites stats and demographic, those are the most important things to any company

Thanks to all for your responses. I am thinking of going for the Business option paypal package - does anyone use this package?

Also, I've been doing a lot of research on the web about pricing for advertisement (and I know it may not be okay to discuss here) but generally speaking, the pricing varies per site right?

Thanks.

If you use PayPal, make it a habit of withdrawing your funds into your bank account when you get more than say $100 or so.

I know a few people who have had hundreds of dollars locked up in their PayPal account for months because of a disputed payment.

On that note, I use paypal myself, and I've had nothing but good experiences with them.

Thanks Naramation,

That is good information. I will make a habig of doing that. Do you also do offline sales where you may need a city permission to handle business?
