A few months ago, I started playing Roblox’s Grow a Garden more seriously and noticed something that kept slowing down gameplay: figuring out plant values, mutation combinations, pet bonuses, XP requirements, and trade values often meant jumping between spreadsheets, Discord messages, wikis, and community posts.
As a full-stack developer who enjoys building useful tools, I decided to see if I could create something that would make those calculations easier and more accessible in one place.
The result is the Grow a Garden Calculator
The goal wasn’t to build another simple value calculator. I wanted to create a tool that helps players make better decisions while playing, whether they’re farming, trading, leveling pets, or comparing different strategies.
One thing I tried to focus on was bringing multiple Grow a Garden utilities together instead of requiring players to visit several different websites or community spreadsheets. My goal was to make it a central resource that remains simple enough for new players while still being useful for experienced traders and collectors.
Building the project has been a great learning experience. One challenge was keeping game data updated while also making calculations fast and easy to use on both desktop and mobile devices. Another lesson was realizing how important UI simplicity is. Even when the underlying logic becomes complicated, users generally want answers with as few clicks as possible.
The project is still evolving, and I’d genuinely appreciate feedback from other developers, Roblox players, designers, and product builders.
A few questions I’d love your thoughts on:
-
Does the overall design feel intuitive, or are there areas that seem confusing?
-
Is the mobile experience smooth enough, or are there usability issues I may have missed?
-
Are there any Grow a Garden features, calculators, or tools that you wish existed but haven’t seen yet?
-
Do the current calculators provide enough context and explanation, or should they include more educational information?
-
Are there any performance improvements or UX enhancements that stand out immediately?
-
If you were a regular Grow a Garden player, what would make you return to a tool like this regularly?
I’m not looking for promotion, I’m looking for honest feedback. If something feels broken, unnecessary, confusing, or incomplete, I’d rather hear it now and improve the project.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and share your thoughts. Every suggestion helps.
