textarea, wrap, and netscape

I've got a simple textarea on a form, and when I enter text into it in Netscape 7 the text refuses to wrap. Instead I get an increasing wide horizonal scroll bar as I keep typing. Inside the textarea tag I've tried

wrap='physical'
wrap='virtual'
wrap='hard'
wrap='soft'

but all to no avail.

Is it just me, or is N7 playing up?

I've tried looking for a CSS solution, but nothing seems to fit the bill.

Suggestions?

Thanks. Hopefully the solution is real easy - it's been (and still is!) a long day...
