If you could turn the clock back to the very early days of domain registering which single domain would you snap up before anyone could get their hands on it?
Pretty easy question to answer, get my name as a TLD, like alex.com or something
Hmmm, that’s a tough but entertaining question. If we’re talking purely domain name then I’d have to go with jeff.com. No monetary purposes there, just with I owned my own name.
I would get google.CA, next day google.com registered.
Now that’s a good question, I can think of dozens
tv.com
radio.com
find.com
internet.com
…see where my thinking is?
I like your thinking - but you were only supposed to pick ONE
this is a no brainer question
If you bought the Google domain before Google existed you would have something with zero meaning. If you bought the .ca after the .com came into existence you would be at risk of trademark infringement and cybersquatting laws… rather a silly “if I could have” scenario to choose a trademarked brand name.
I’d snaffle raena.com. That squatter jerk who has it now can get stuffed.
A lot of the single worded domains that seem to go for abysmal amounts of money.
You are right. And I do not understand those people who are spending a lot of money and buy such domain names
I don’t think you can get any single letter .com addresses, but you can get single letter .nets - I always thought i.net was a great domain name.
or
Yeah, same here. alex.com or alex.nl would be great
I had a chance to get rhys.co.uk, but didn’t take it :(. Would’ve loved that!
Same since it sold for like 14 million.
A domain that consists of a well known word can greatly increase your success online and get you type in traffic.
What has been shown in recent years is the domain name is pretty irrelevant. Just look at sites like Flickr, Google or Facebook. Before they existed those domain names would most likely be considered junk.
So the real money is in brands not domains. You can turn a meaningless domain name into the most valuable domain name on the internet as long as you can turn it into a brand and have effective marketing behind it. Or simply a good idea that interests people.
Or you can just sell sex.com for 14 million
