What to Expect Over Christmas?

Hey,

I have an online shop which sells watches (http://twistedtime.com). I only opened in April so this upcoming Christmas will be my first.

Does anyone have any idea about what kind of sales I should expect over November and December in relation to my normal sales?

I don’t really know what to expect so I want to make sure I have enough stock. However, I don’t want to buy a lot more than necessary as it can be quite costly.

Thanks!

For a very rough estimate I would do the following:

  1. Find out what keywords are getting you sales.
  2. Go to Google Trends and see how the traffic trends for those terms over the Christmas Season (Nov-Dec).
  3. Extrapolate from there adding in a dampening factor as there will be more tire kicking going on over that period.

Thanks NetPox. I think I am going to go on the assumption that my sales will triple over November and December (fingers crossed).

What does your store sell?

I started my ecommerce website last year at the end of August. Sept & Oct i was getting maybe 10 sales a week. Didn’t have a high budget to do anything, i kind of just started the website to see if i can actually sell my products online. In Nov it has tripled and Dec before Christmas was great. Holiday season has inspired me to continue on with my business.

One thing i learned was to communicate with your customers. Do you have a newsletter system? Keep them up to date with your sales and promote special sales before Christmas. Let them know they can get great deals right before Christmas. It’s not too early to start promoting your holiday deals now. You see all the department stores setting up christmas trees and holiday decor already so you can start promoting it.

Hey, what about your business right not? I’ve no experience about watch business, but I think christmas is a big festival, and a lot of people want to buy gifts for their friends, and you’d better get ready for it. Anyway, wish you good luck.

Sales are pretty good right now but I’m not sure whether to expect them to double? triple? etc. over Christmas.
