bbcode is a markup language that uses a different format from HTML and provides only a small subset of what markup HTML provides that will be converted into the HTML equivalent when the content that contains it is output as part of a web page.
The purpose is to restrict user entry to just those values by disallowing the entry of HTML so that the only way users can specify the HTML is using the provided bbcodes.
This us used in some forums (not this one) to allow people making forum posts to use some markup in their posts without giving them access to all the HTML commands.
The SitePoint forum uses markdown instead of bbcodes for the post markup

bbcode is different with html code. It always start with " [ " and end by " ] " . Have many bbcode for you like …
