I noticed some questions about use of hardware devices and choice of operating systems.
In an example of a classroom survey, a customer said that, 50 out of 52 students used Mac in Canada.
And an friend of mine did not get further responses from a possible German employer when he replied using Ubuntu and Windows to customize Magento projects.
Well, what exactly do the professionals use as their core tools for web development?
What hardware, IDE and OS choice makes you a professional web developer?
And where should the current were developers jump to cope this technology and preference trend?

It varies, do a search on these forums as software/apps have been discussed many times.

It doesn’t matter! The choice of OS is normally a personal decision. If you work for an established business they will use Windows or Mac, Linux tends to be used by solo (hardcore!) developers.
As far as hardware goes you don’t really need anything special unless you are doing intensive processing with things like video, in which case you’d usually need a higher spec machine.

Read the Sitepoint forums and articles, read blog posts, follow hashtags on Twitter… it’s all out there somewhere!
friend it doesn’t matter u must use any hardware and ide.a in m y point of view professional web developer uses windows for the reason is it support front end is gud
It tends to simply be a matter of preference and the languages/technologies that you work with.
However, in general, designers tend to favor the mac platform more often than not (even though the Adobe suite is available on Windows, so there’s no hard reason why designers have to use a mac. So again, it comes down to preference).
For developers, it’s a mix of OS X, Windows, or Linux.
There is also the school of thought that your development machines should match your sandbox/production machine as closely as possible, so that is sometimes a determining factor.
Personally, I develop on Windows, since I work with both PHP and C# Windows applications. So for me, the Windows platform makes sense as a development platform.
It doesn’t matter. It’s up to you. Only time it would matter would be if you are building for iOS apps, in which case you would need a mac. But with most projects, it all depends on what you normally like to use.
