I used to have a link to my personal blog, but since that’s in dutch, it didn’t make much sense on a forum where maybe 0,1% of the visitors knows that language.
So now I have a link to another of my websites, to make a little promotion for a free product I made. A product that (thinks me) does make sense on a web design and development forum. And since it’s free, I’m not gaining anything from it from a financial point of view (unless of course someone from this forum goes to my site, and decides he/she wants to donate something to support me). But that’s most unlikely, since I’ve had not even 10 donations against 20.000 downloads
By the way, I like the way Datura put her name in her signature. I’m gonna do that too. At least people can stop calling me guido2004
I put a link to a webapp I developed, and a link to the “developer’s blog” for it.
On most other forums I visit frequently, I just have a quote of some sort that I get around to changing every few years. On forums I don’t visit frequently, I don’t bother with a signature.
My signature (or lack thereof) showcases my total lack of vanity
If people want to find out about me there’s a perfectly usable homepage link in my profile and that has the stuff I’ve been working on, I don’t feel the need to advertise myself in such an obvious way as I feel it would degrade the overall quality of my posts, so no signature there by and happy the siggy haters remain!
