For a company with a single employee and a work history of 12 months, I’d suggest you look for smaller more manageable projects than IBM and Accenture. Try connecting with local networking groups and do some local marketing. Have you looked into your Chamber of Commerce? Be sure to tell family and friends what your skills are (without getting too technical) so they can act as your business ambassadors. Get in touch with some complimentary firms such as marketing agencies or branding groups that might be able to refer business your way. In this world it’s more about the relationships that you build than anything else. Find some low barrier entry points in your local community to start with and you’ll grow from there.

If you have just started a business, it’s best to reach out to local networking groups and meetups that consist of members that you would like to sell your services to. From there, you can start building your connections and portfolio which will over time, bring you to the level where you can bid for projects from bigger consultancy agencies.
