I’m after your advice regarding free or fairly cheap software to convert video files from one format to another (e.g. typically MP4, FLV or WMV to SWF).
I’m looking for software recommendations for both the Mac and Windows.
I found a lovely little, cheapy programme that did exactly this BUT also apparently had a lovely little Trojan attached to it which was a real highlight for me that week.
So any suggestions about the most flexible way of converting video from format to format most gratefully accepted!
I use Xilsoft Video Converter for all my projects, its brilliant, they have a trial too so you can have a sneak preview if you choose to buy it - lots of conversion options
I guess I just pay for the product at the end of the day, if it works and it does the job, then I’ll have it regardless of spamming stories - this product delivers and its the best I’ve used for simple video conversions like Tailslide mentioned - anyway, just a suggestion hope you find something that works Tailslide
I’m fairly far from expert on this sort of thing but when I’ve tried to run .flv files in JW player it’s failed… but .swf files work fine. It’s probably me.
I used to use a free online conversion site which allows you to convert to swf but it seems to get quite busy and the conversion sometimes fails.
Thanks Mizzywizzy - I’ll have a look at that site. I’m slightly paranoid because of my recent experience with the trojan-infested file!
@tailslide - I can understand that of course, we’ve all got burned one way or another whilst downloading files - I downloaded my copy from that site and I was fine, but just scan with ur anti-virus before you open it to keep on the safe side of things even if its for your own sense of security hope it’s what you’re looking for
Video conversion software are easily available on the Google. You can easily download this software from there. But see it must be compatible to your system.
I use MediaCoder for all my video transcoding between various containers (avi/mkv/flv/mp4/wmv) and codecs/formats (h.264/xvid/wmv). No idea about swf support though, but as it’s not a video format it may not support it.
