Treehouse: Is it worth it?

I was browsing CSS-Tricks today and I came upon a link to this site. From what I’ve seen it’s a bit like Codeacademy but for web design. On one hand I want to learn more about responsive web design and iOS development. On the other hand all I see are videos and I do not want to pay money to watch videos when I could just get a book, look up stuff online, and practice on my own. Has anyone used this service?

note: I regret not coming up with something like that but eh I’m just one person.

They are pretty well known, so certainly trustworthy. (They were previously called Think Vitamin … or something.) But personally, I prefer books over videos.

Yeah, that’s what I figured. That explains why the Think Vitamin logo appeared in one of the sample vids they had on there.

Get books or online resources. If you feel like this isn’t enough after reading them all, then I’d go pay for their services.

Videos aren’t a bad way to learn. I’ll echo everyone else and say that I like books over videos as well, but it’s still a viable way to learn the content.

Sitepoint offers similar courses like these CSS courses.

If you think you’ll learn enough from it, go for it. If learning through videos isn’t the way you work, then don’t.
