The example is not actually a current example for Angular but for AngularJS, it's predecessor. For both frameworks basically do not have much in common i think that should be clarified and additionally a real Angular example shall be added for AngularJS is basically dead as dead can be.

Thanks for the heads-up @mperenz, but this book was published by Packt, not us, so we don’t have the scope to make updates to it ourselves.
Obviously, but what does have to do with my initial question / problem except trying to look smart?
There are examples how other frameworks work and that part of the chapter is plain simple not correct.
