Submenu in 2 columns

In a layout I have a vertical menu. One of the menu items has quite a lot sub items, So I’m looking for a way to display the submenu in 2 colums. Any advise or examples will be highly appreciated

Is it a hover dropdown?

Just get a regular version working with 1 column. I’ll help you get two columns from there (once you get a basic version working, come back and give us your code.)
