Stackoverflow got hacked?

I don’t know when I go to stackoverflow I get a suspicious pop-up. I am not sure if I got virus or that site got hacked? are you getting popup on that site??

Got a screenshot?

no, I closed the popup immediately, it seems its url is wonderlands.com!

For what it’s worth, I get no pop-up, but then I do have Adblock Plus installed.

My guess is neither of those, but that your machine downloaded some form of “adware” or “malware” with something you recently downloaded on purpose.

i.e. not a “virus” in the sense that it will harm your machine or try to spread to others, but more of an intrusive marketing tactic that will annoy you.

Just the same, running a scan would seem to be in order.

Same here. I also generally have JS disabled, but even when I enabled it, I saw no pop-ups.

Ditto, Using desktop Firefox latest Windows 10

I have seen where various “pests” only happen for some and not others.

eg. using desktop, no problem, using mobile, there it is.

In any case, I suspect it is not stackoverflow and a scan should be run

I am using an updated nod32 eset, and a scan is running. I hope it will solve it.

Nothing found, what else should I delete? cookies? history?

It’s much more likely you have adware than any major site getting hacked to deliver malicious software.

probably I had to add that when I go to stackoverflow, not immediately popup opens, but when I click on the page, it opens, please test it again and let me know.

Must be your computer/browser @nimasdj as it looked OK to me as well

Have you tried Malwarebytes?

I still can’t recreate it. Can you take a screenshot? Do you have any extensions/addons installed that may be playing into this issue?

Do you mean wonderlandads.com ?

A google search gives a lot of results: https://www.google.it/search?q=wonderlandads.com+adware

yes, I meant that website. I tried both nod32 eset and malwarebytes, malwaebytes found some threats and killed them them restart for sure I tried again and second time nothing found but I still get the same redirect with both IE and Chrome! any idea?

I cannot afford to buy SpyHunter, FreeFixer wants me to choose what to delete and I don’t know what to choose to delete, what do you suggest to do?

What options is FreeFixer giving you?

it gives a list to check/uncheck what to repair and what to delete. As I have no idea what they are, I fear to delete genuine files too, so I don’t know what to check/uncheck!

SpyHunter and RegHunter are safe to use and are recommended?

I really meant what files is it listing. I don’t know how many there are. Can you list them, or give a screenshot? Alternatively, Google each one to see what it is?
