Snacks vs. Vegetables

yes, but i do get the impression that you havn’t :shifty:

she was 101. and i’ve seen several 93-97 yrs old “fat” people. my neightbour, she was almost 98 yrs old, and round as a ball. the funny thing here is that i don’t think she had been 150 if she were slim

aha! so you were editing your post while i was typing here… that’s cheating tsk-tsk-tsk

Eenteresing :inspector:

No, I haven’t. I don’t think I’ve even seen any fat people over 70 for that matter. And those over 60 have a handful of diseases.

Aha! You did that too - now we’re even :stuck_out_tongue:

Well Crazybanana, I can’t see that your diet is all that bad considering you’re “In the fruit cellar”. Heck, I don’t even have a fruit cellar to be in.

I’m all for “living life to the fullest”, just that most of my bad decisions seem to catch up with me eventually. One addiction after another chasing me down with a big “Oh NO you don’t”.

Right - I’m on my way over!

I go through discernible phases from cooking as little as possible (without the kids starving) through to loads of cooking and batch-cooking and baking. This cycle usually lasts about 2 months.

I think it’s because I don’t really like to cook (not everyday stuff anyway) and so I force myself for a while, then get fed up and rebel, then feel guilty and start again!

I am currently in one of my “cook as little as possible” phases and would live happily off Sweet Chilli crisps if I could.

I say it myself, although admittedly based on input from others. I’m very sceptic about tabloid-style alarmists and suchlike, but it seems reasonable that sugar, fat and cholesterol – the main ingredients in my food – doesn’t constitute a well-balanced diet. Tasty, yes, but not balanced.

Same here!

See, I solved this problem of being bored cooking by making all meals interesting  and that does not make things more time consuming. My husband does also very much appreciate the nuances of a meal, so it is a joy to prepare a nice meal and eat together.

Since we both are designers, the presentation is a very important aspect of our meals, so over the years I collected a lot of china and little side things to go along. All meals are beautifully served, even if it is just a simple little dish.

I started cooking when I was about 6 years old. I took over for Saturday’s when I was 10, my parents loved it and encouraged me. Later, after traveling all over Europe and tasting all the great cuisines, it just became a natural to emulate that feel that all the foods had brought.

After I moved to the US and got married I studied all sorts of cook books and articles until I was able to taste the food in my mind by just reading recipes. As a bonus I polished up my English  Out of this reading developed certain classic flavor combinations that never fail, so I have a repertoire of meals that are not repeated per se, but repeated by principle.

Turns out that when I cook this way, the combinations by themselves become a balanced meal without even thinking about it. It seems that all cuisines of the world have combinations of foods that compliment each other from a nutritional standpoint. I also made it a point to hone my knowledge on nutrition and combine this into meal planning.

And just like Crazybanana has his view of enjoying his life to the fullest, I have the same view just in a more disciplined manner

Every man should have his own fruit cellar. it’s a man’s right, to have one.

i luv it

I have never cared about what other people says about me

I also know, that it’s not the healthiest food i am eating, but i don’t care, and i also move a lot so it’s really no problem to me

one shall live

As i got an unexpected extra day off from work, i have been eating all day. mostly snacks of course, and i’m now starting on the 3’rd pot of coffee too

gotta make some snacks for my “Lone wolf and cub” movie evening too

Me neither. What I meant was that the information that the food I’m eating isn’t healthy comes from other people. I’m not a nutritional scientist.

Snacks are not all that bad. It all depends on how balanced your diet is. Oh ya, I eat veggies everyday.

i love vegetables, its a healthy food,

I sometime eat snack. Most of the time while watching television. Instead of eating three medium to large-sized meals per day, I eat five smaller meals. I treat myself at the end of the day with a small dessert.

snacks, they taste better hehehe

I prefer to the vegetable .Everyone loves vegetables and dip - including children. Dip off with carrot sticks, strips of red or green pepper broccoli or cauliflower mushroom caps and more. Use a low-fat dressing creamy dressing for dipping.
