I’m having some trouble where one specific blog post is not being indexed by Google.

- I’ve made sure it’s added to the sitemap.
- I’ve checked the page with Google Webmaster Tools as Googlebot and it’s appearing fine.
- I’ve social bookmarked the page to make sure that search engines are finding it.
Even after all this, it’s still not indexed. The page used to be indexed, just dropped off one day despite that none of the other pages were affected. Can anyone see something odd about this page that I’m missing?
Nice article,
Can’t take a long look at why it might not be indexed at work but maybe a few outside links could help push it along.
It’s just so weird because it was indexed and has been dropped. If you Google “kirkland signature” you’ll see the category called Naming come up which links to this article. Google seems to know about it, just isn’t indexing this particular article.
Even though the cache is non-existent, it seems to be indexed.
Wieiered.
When I follow your link I’m not seeing the indexed page. I even signed out of Google to make sure my personal searching preferences weren’t botching it. I’ve attached a screenshot of what I see.
I agree though - this is all very strange.
Now when I try your search link I’m seeing the results that you did. The page is in the index but isn’t showing up when I search for the URL. This is without a doubt the most confusing situation I’ve come across related to Google.
Has anyone else ever had to deal with this in the past? If so, how’d you fix it?
it may take some time to index. but if you bookmark it on google and digg , the process will fast
The page is already indexed - see the previous 3 comments - it’s just not showing up in search results.
In the event that this happens to someone else I’ll fill you in on what eventually happened…
I changed the URL of the specific blog article by adding “the” into the address. I then placed a 301 redirect on the old URL to make sure that we preserved any links. Within about 48 hours Google picked up the new URL and indexed it, but wasn’t displaying it for any search results. I gave it another 48 hours and it seems like the new article is now being shown in the results.
I have absolutely no idea why Google would index a page and not show it in the results so if you have any idea I’m listening. The whole time I’ve been bookmarking the page and creating links for it but that would only get the page indexed faster - had nothing to do with the page not showing in the results.
I guess the final solution was to change the URL of the page and Google seemed to think it was something new and worthy of indexing again.
