The stand-out stat is Microsoft Silverlight. Today it stands at 52% usage for Silverlight v3.0, the current version.
I’m personally waiting for v4.0, before I start devloping SL apps for the web, which will be released this summer. I just find it amazing that, we are only in version 3, but it’s alreading on the majority of computers.
What do you guys think? Do you developer SL apps now, or our you going to wait till it is more mature with v4.0 (or later)?
As a company, we do a lot of Silverlight stuff (some examples: http://colaab.com/Home.mvc/Home, http://simd.scotland.gov.uk/map) but I personally haven’t done much. My main issue with a lack of IoC support, but I think Castle has sorted this. Now to try and get some free time!
Touche. However, I will like to know that the software I will be building would reach at least 8/10 people. At the current time, it’s about 60%. I guess it’s a safety net in case their is some unseen proplem down the road. I guess the same reason Flash 1 - 4 never really took off. That is to be expected with anything new.
I think the more people who start using silverlight, the further its reach will become. People will install it if asked IMHO. People tend to trust browser installers like that. Prob because of adobe, so they know more or less what its about, and of coarse, having the Microsoft name doesnt hurt either. lol
