Silverlight vs. HTML5

Hey Guys,

This is in response to Craig from SP (face palm). I think this is highly overrated. First, Silverlight is targeted for corporate apps (along with everyday apps), and HTML5 is geared toward only everyday apps. Second, if you we’re to build the exact same app in Silverlight and HTML5, 10:1 it Silverlight be finished faster then HTML5. And time is $$$$.

What is your guys opinion of Silverlight vs. HTML5? And, do you plan on using Silverlight in the future even if HTNL5 is mainstream?

Personally, I plan to keep on using it and incorporate it will into the future, after all, it is only in version 4.0 and has surpassed Flash in so many ways.

Later and Happy Weekend.

My 2 cents:

Silverlight: probably great for internal use in the short term
In the long term; nobody knows what Microsoft will do with their new and shiny technologies.

HTML5: the future when it comes to general use across browsers and platforms (windows, mac, unix, mobile devices etc).

The next couple of years will be very interesting to watch :-)…
