One does not replace the other, for all new websites you have to do seo. If you want also to buy traffic in ppc you can do that to.

SEO is recommended over PPC because leads from organic searches are qualitatively better. But it is a tedious and lengthy process.
SEO would be good to optimize your website because your website has just gone live. If you want more traffic and can invest more go for PPC. This is totally depend on your goal.

SEO is not limited to optimization of website and content to rank High in web search result for main keywords, Its also about being an authorize website in eye of major search engine such as Google, Bing, Yahoo and how people interact with your website, if visitors are come back and other sites are linking to your website.
PPC playing for specific targeted keywords in search engine result. There are essential deal of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) when creating a paid ad.

SEO: Search Engine optimization ,It is the process of getting traffic the on the website,or natural search results on search engine.
PPC: Pay Par Click it is part of search engine Marketing, It is process to inures the traffic in website.
It depends on the website’s goals, I recommend to try all marketing platfoms at once and from there you can track what is effective. 
Actually both SEO and PPC will do a great job for you!! SEO will bring the organic traffic while PPC will bring the targeted paid traffic and boost your online presence. So go ahead…

I suggest SEO is more effective then PPC.
And why is that, @samuelroy? Please give the reasons behind your answer. A bald statement like that with no further information is of no real help to anybody.
I think SEO is best way for new launching website. First steps that make proper meta tags and keyword planning for new sites. We need some reaches first then only PPC will work effectively. if we firstly do the PPC work then rank will drain after ppc duration. We need to sustain the rank and need to improve also.
Well both are important but both have different ways to promote. Also it’s depend on your budget. SEO is totally free promotion and where PPC is paid campaign.
If you want fast results then you can choose PPC.
If you need traffic to your website instantly, You can try PPC. You will start getting traffic in 10 minutes. But SEO will take time, if we are doing proper SEO we can Expect traffic in 6 months. But always I prefer a mix of both.
