It’s really important to have your articles published on your site for SEO and basic Marketing reasons. If you don’t have it on your site, how is your potential customer base going to know what you have to offer ? And also, if you think about the way the web works is that most submission sites only keep your stories for some time and then it eventually disappears . As a business, you want to make sure that your product/idea/service can be found easily even after years of having published your article and being indexed in Google (and other Search Engines) through a permanent link to your site is the best way.

Sites like Blogspot are treated VERY kindly
by Google and you’ll much better placement
in the organic search if you post your content
blogspot instead of your own site.

The downside is of course the fact that your
content is on blogspot instead of your site.

I have everything on my site then also on flickr or facebook etc.
