I would suggest before start learning determine your long term goals.
However,
Start learning web basics like HTML, CSS, JS, jQuery etc…

If you don’t’ understand or you are weak in reading checkout tutorials in edx.org and also in thenewsboston.com they both have tremendous of resources.
That’s questionable. It can be a good place to learn for some things but some of the code or techniques are out-dated.
That isn’t the fault of the two guys who own the site though (unless you consider that choosing to cover so many topics to be a mistake) - they just can’t work the 200 hours a day necessary to keep the site up to date and as it is just a hobby site set up by the two of them they probably hadn’t considered the possibility of hiring the dozen or so staff they’d need to keep it up to date until it was already way out of date.
