So I finaly was able to get a legal copy of Photoshop CS5 Extended because my University had some Adobe thing, where we could talk to them and buy the software for $75.00 at the event. Which nice because the Adobe staff said that they are full versions and will qualify me for upgrade pricing in the future…
ANYWAY, now I’m trying to learn how to make websites using Photoshop. I found a lot of tutorials about Photoshop but most of them have nothing to do with websites, they are all photo related things, and animations or something.
Are there any (hopefully video or screen cast) tutorials that walk me though making a sample website from start to finish. Just so that I can learn how to use the tools in Photoshop and how to slice the image and things like that? I wan’t to learn all the tools and how to make effects and drops shadows, and gradients, and things like that.
Also, if I wanted to make a theme like this: http://www.4templates.com/website-templates/724215599-WT00701CY/
You can see how that have two menus at the top. They have a tab, with a sub-tab that all change the image on the screen depending on what page you are looking at.
Is something like that done in Photoshop? Do I have to draw a seperate PSD for each page? or do I just draw one PSD and do that “tab change” in HTML or CSS or something? My PSD is going to be static I assume so… I’m thinking I will have to draw a different version of the PSD for each page that will be displayed… what a pain?
BTW: Adobe will be there two more days next week, and they have some “Master Suite” product for $149.99… Is that something I should buy for web development? I have Visual Studio and most of my websites are going to be ASP.Net, so do I need Dreamweaver and all the other stuff that comes with Master Suite? Or should I just stick with Photoshop?
I don’t know how much of you developers use the other programs. I don’t want Flash at all. I hate Flash. I think Photoshop is the main program I will need?
