Open source WYSIWYG web editor like Dreamweaver?

Does anybody know of a decent open source WYSIWYG web editor as an alternative to Dreamweaver?

nvu

Cross-platform, standards-compliant, etc. The only drawback is that you can’t use it on dynamic pages (i.e. PHP or JSP).

I know about NVU.

It’s not WYSIWYG right?

Any other good ones?

Sounds like it is…
“Jump between WYSIWYG Editing Mode and HTML using tabs.”

How to set NVU to open the remote in /public_html/ folder?

It is opening at the root directory.

Also, it cannot open .php files?

That I’m not sure. I just used it to work on a few local HTML pages, nothing remote.

Nope. Like I said in my first post, it can’t work with dynamic pages (i.e. JSP and PHP). Great for editing HTML, CSS, and JS though.

Any good WYSIWYG editor for php?

open source still? Hmmm… let me check

Is there any cheaper commercial software which is comparable to DW?

Hi guys… :}

I’d like an open source program with web site support. Not just editing pages. It should give me a view of my site and also have ftp support.

Any recommendations? Thx!

I don’t think that there are any out there at this point in time aside from DW…

NVU is still very, very young. It will be something worth looking at in a few years time… but for now… I wouldn’t touch it.

I think HTMLGate Free is one… I’ve used it a few times, but mostly in codeview.
Althought it DOES have WYSIWYG capability…

meh, I’m blabbin’

check it out if you like…

Well there is this one:

Dreamweaver is WYSIWYG right?

“Unlike most other web site / HTML editors SCREEM does not provide a WYSIWYG display of pages. Instead you are presented with the raw html source in its editor window.”

I dont think any Open Source software is there which has WYSIWYG option and works for dynamic pages…

but there are couple of software which are totally not WYSIWYG but can run PHP scripts internally and show you the preview…
