I have a website with approximately 280 total pages, including many blog posts. All of these pages are included in the sitemap, which I’ve submitted through Google Search Console.
However, when I check using site:*** in Google, I can only see around 29 pages indexed. The rest—including most of the blog posts—aren’t showing up in the search results.
Here’s what I’ve already checked:
All pages are listed in the sitemap
No pages are blocked by robots.txt
Pages return a 200 OK status
Canonical tags appear correct
No manual actions or penalties in Search Console
I’m not sure what’s causing this issue. Could it be related to:
Content quality or duplication?
Poor internal linking?
Crawl budget limitations?
Something else?
I’d appreciate any insights or suggestions to help identify and resolve the indexing issue.
Indexing does not mean it’s searchable in Google now; it means Google has it in its index now.
It can choose to or not choose to display it as a web result. If your site is new, then it’s normal to take some time (days, weeks…months) for your posts to be visible
Search console should tell you how much is indexed or not, and reasons why pages are not indexed, as in this topic.
Google makes a distiction between “Indexed” pages and “Not Indexed” pages. So Google does have a record of the non indexed pages, it just won’t put them in search results. So I believe the indexed pages are searchable.
The site is well over a year old, about 20 months.
