New Course: Practical CSS With Russ Weakley

After rave reviews of his first course, CSS Live, Russ Weakley returns with his second course …

Practical CSS: build a real world layout from start to finish.

Course Details:

  • Duration: Two Weeks
  • Format: 8 x 1 hour lessons, with a Live recorded Q&A session each Friday

  • Cost: $19.95

This jam-packed course will step you through how to build a professional layout from the ground up. You’ll start with a basic template, and end up with a living, breathing, fully functional web page, plus the skills to build more – that’s the sort of stuff you can charge clients real money for.

Through the course Russ will focus on building a full CSS layouts from start to finish using a flexible process that can be applied to any CSS layout. You’ll be taught skills that can be transferred to any page setup in such a clear way you’ll be creating kick-**** layouts, on your own, in no time.

The course is perfect if you’ve tinkered with a web page before. You might have tweaked someone else’s design, or used an existing template as a basis for your own.

Not any more…

At the end of this course, you’ll be able to build a professional web page from start to finish, helping you turn your CSS fundamentals into a career!

If you’ve never typed a line of CSS before, then perhaps this isn’t the course for you. Russ’s CSS Live course is the one you’re looking for if you’re an absolute CSS beginner.

You can get a heap more detail on each lesson of the course on the Practical CSS outline.

The Russology – just like the greats (think Starwars), Russ will be coming to you tri-fold.

If this course isn’t enough to get you excited, then perhaps this will. This course is one of a series of three courses that Russ will be running. This course covers layouts, then forms, data tables and finally drop down menus.

It’s the perfect pathway to becoming a CSS pro, and with Russ’s easy to follow style, you’ll get there in no time without smashing the budget along the way.

Horses for courses …

Our courses are a little different, so here’s answers to some of the most frequent questions we get asked:

How much time will I need to dedicate?
You’ll need about 1-2 hours a day to keep up with the course. We break everything down into bite size chunks, so you can stop / start at any time. You’ll also have access to a private Q&A forum, so if you need a little extra help, you’ll find answers there.

Do I need to follow every day?
Some people enjoy following every day, others like to take the course at their own pace. The great thing is our courses are completely flexible and accommodate both.

How long will the course remain available?
When you enrol you get access to the course for a minimum of 12 months. So if life gets in the way or you want a refresher in 6 months, all the content is there waiting for you.

When are the Live Q&A Sessions?
For this course, we’ll run two Live Q&A sessions, one on each Friday. You pick the time that best suits you from two options and then just log in and pose your questions live to Russ. You can find them on the course FAQ page.

How do I access the course?
Once you’ve purchase the course, you’ll be given a link to enrol – then your in! You’ll get an email from us the moment the first lesson is available. You can always navigate the course by heading to your personal course dashboard.

Starts this Monday – Don’t miss out!

It all starts this Monday, October 11th so enrol now to make sure you don’t miss out on the action!

There seems to be a lot of squabble for a great course and the first Q&A was today. By the way, you can ask any question anytime…so I don’t get it.

For my money, I’ve already learned some terrific ideas to organize my code to tame gamy browsers and bulletproof against Microsoft’s continuous lack of interest in joining the world of CSS. If you read Rachel Andrew’s book while going through this online course with Russ, it’s a great way to double up on the learning. I checked out her book from my local library and am working up my own tips and guides as we go along.

Good on ya,
J.Wolf

The first lesson was super however I have a few questions and you Q&A interface is cumbersome, hard to see, and detracts from a very good course:nono: because now it is not the course that is giving me problems but the lack of a forum that to me was working JUST FINE. Come on give it back!!!

Cheers,
Mikee:eye::eye:

I just applied for a job where I’d be using some CSS. I’ve used it, but it’s definitely not my strong point, and I could use some refreshing/practice. This sounds perfect! Definitely considering it!

While we’re on the subject of courses, are there going to be any PHP-related courses anytime soon? I’m not a beginner, I’d just like to improve my PHP skills more, so the PHP Live course doesn’t seem like it’d be very helpful.

just got the email about this and wanted to sign up, unfortunately do to financial issues i can’t pay until after the 15th… would i be able to pay then and watch what i missed up to that point?

Thanks for sharing the wonderful course.

I am right with you. the forum worked better to keep things organised. Maybe a Q&A section for each lesson might sort that out. At the moment the Q&A system is growing and hard to find questions specific to lesson…and we are only on lesson 2!

Belay that. Evidently I wasn’t “enrolled”. I could get to the course content, but not to the Q&A…

I can’t get to the Q&A section at all. When I go to the page I’m prompted to log in, but the page won’t accept my credentials. When I try to create an account (thinking it requires credentials different than those of the rest of the site), it tells me I’m already logged in. I suppose I may be ineligible to access that part of the site, but if so I don’t know why.

Just signed up. Looking forward to the course!

Pothi answered you here:

Furthermore when you are able to purchase the course go to, http://products.sitepoint.com/?tag=courses&filters[tag][]=&filters[difficulty]=&simpleform_submit_marker=showme, and click on the Buy link for Practical CSS.

HTH

I still haven’t really got an answer to my question.

I can’t buy the course until the 15th, will it still be available for purchase then?

Its simply great!!!

Yes it is. Once I got used to that Australian accent
No really, I learned a lot. Sometimes seeing things being done makes it all much clearer.

This is totally awesome, another course taught by Russ. Having taken his first one, CSS Live, I am in and would recommend taking this course to any one interested in CSS. It makes Monday something to anticipate.

Great
just signed up and looking forward the first lesson

Yes, you’d be able to watch what’s missed until that point.
