My first magazine design

I’m planning to start as a main designer on a monthly student magazine.

I’ve been freelancing as a web designer for years, but I’ve never got into graphic design. I’m very good at design in general and I’m aware of the design principles and trends, but I’ve never learned the technical stuff of graphic design like, standard dimensions, preparing and exporting for printing, color management and many others.

So, are there some online tutorials that can help me build a basis so that I start safely? The rest is just design which is something I do on a daily basis.

juz go online
kirupa, entheosweb etc these site gives you some basic idea about designing

Important thing is you should keep on designing something. spend more time and keep on desinging

all the best

Good on you!
I’m sure there probably are tutorials online, but what I did when I was just starting out in print design, was contact the printer that I use and they sent me through a whole lot of help sheets. Most printers would probably do the same thing because it’s in their best interest to get the files in a format that they can use.

Yeah that should help a lot. Thanks!

You should also look into printing tutorials side of the design. what you may see on screen may not come out same as print.

Yes, that is something I’m mostly concerned.
