Multi WordPress folders

I have a self-hosted WordPress blog that works fine. I have a static website that has a link to the blog. I would now like to make the static web site behave in the manner of the WordPress blog. My question is do I have to add a separate mySQL data base for the website.

Any suggestions?

If the static website is just a normal HTML page you wouldn’t need to setup a database for it.

By “behave in the same manner”, do you mean mimic the WordPress’ blogs design?

Not so much the design, but rather to ease of installing media and such, and the dynamic way WordPress works.

Why not use WordPress for the entire site? It’d take a bit of work to migrate your static site over but then your entire site would be in one place making it easy to keep up with.

To run them both off the same database you need to go into the wp-config.php and change/create the Table prefixes.

From the wp-config-sample.php:

/**

  • WordPress Database Table prefix.
  • You can have multiple installations in one database if you give each a unique
  • prefix. Only numbers, letters, and underscores please!
    */
    $table_prefix = ‘wp_’;

Mike, it sounds like you want to expand wordpress from just a blog to a CMS. Am I correct?

you can use import-html-pages plugins .
