Looking for smtp email hosting

Hi,

I’m developing monitoring tool similar to google alerts just for something else specific.

It will be membership site where members will receive email report every 25 minutes.

So, I need smtp access to send them email via php (php software is on my server and need just to call smtp server).

I’m not planning to have more then 400 members.

I need just one email box with not much space, but that can send up to 400 emails every 25 minutes (I guess it will be less then 100 in first few months).

This is not anything spammy. It will send all time emails to same members (emails) and in each email there is link to login to member area and change email or turn reporting off.

It’s very important that server is not blocked by big free emails like gmail,yahoo,hotmail…

I do not think so any shared hosting provider will allow you to send 400 emails in every 25 minutes. I would suggest to go for a dedicated server.

I’m not looking for shared hosting, but for SMTP Email Hosting.
That is special hosting only for emails.

You could go for a small VPS, and use it for email hosting purposes only. Shut everything else down, and memory usage should be really low.

What do you mean by “small VPS” ?
Can you tell me exactly company and plan that is small VPS ?

If I were you I would ask web hosting provider about this first of all. They might agree to provide you VPS or dedicated but might not allow mass email sending.

I think small dedicated server would be fine for you.

yes , for this work , you have to purchase VPS , Normail hosting packages does not allow us to send that much email

I have a hosting company which allows me to send and receive (SMTP and POP) emails. Try out Netfirms.com They have a great toll free number, you’ll be put on hold for at most 1 hour before you get to talk to a friendly customer representative. Their reps are also quite technical, so they’ll be able to answer your tech questions.

1 hour is terrible. :slight_smile:

Given my experience with Netfirms’ hosting, I wouldn’t recommend them (slow and unreliable), though I can’t say I’ve tested out their email hosting.
