Ok, for the last week or so I’ve been looking for something to help kickstart my newsletter subscriptions.

I really like the look of Pop Up Domination (the colourful boxes and the ‘table’ layouts), but I don’t want something quite that intrusive.

Basically I’d like to be able to have a newsletter form pop up at the bottom of the screen inviting people to sign up to the newsletter while still being able to use the site. They can input their email address if they like … or alternatively, they can close/ignore the form.

Basically, something very similar to the pop-up that appears on Sitepoint if a new user visits the site for the first time.

Does anything like that exist? Quite happy to sign up through affiliate links for the right thing.

Sitepoint detailed the steps in their “catfish” popup if you want to recreate your own - although if you google “sitepoint catfish” you’ll find some existing solutions like http://software.instantslideup.com/

Personally, as much as pop up domination can be more “intrusive” - it’s also proven to get more signups to your newsletters and I would think it’s something you’ll want to test at some point in time.
