Java and java script

What is the difference between ham and hamster?

The first few letters are the same, they are vaguely related to animal bodies, but they are completely different. It’s unfortunate that the names look so similar, because it gives the impression that the concepts themselves are similar.

Java is a full-on programming language used for writing applications.

Javascript is a scripting language that allows you to create certain levels of interaction, typically in a web page.

Java is complied whereas JavaScript is interpreted. Java is object-oriented and JavaScript is prototype based. JavaScript is designed to run on a web client Java can be used to build desktop applications. Java is strictly typed whereas JavaScript is not. As with most programming languages many of the basic control structure, assignment, comparison, etc syntax is similar but they are two very different things. By the way… its JavaScript NOT java script or even Javascript.

Netscape decided to use the name JavaScript when Java started to attract a lot of attention, hoping that some innocents would think they were related and help increase JavaScript’s popularity.

Looks like they are still managing to fool some people, doesn’t it.

Java and JavaScript are very different languages. You might as well talk about them as if they were C++ and PHP. There is that little similarity between them.

Primarily, Java is used to create applications, and JavaScript is used on web pages to enhance the user experience.

Well, Hamsters tend to have a little more “gamey” taste, but when cooked right, can be delicious, especially with some plum sauce on the side.

(There is also the issue of all that hair in your meal, but when prepared properly, it shouldn’t be an issue.)
