Introducing Kevin Yank’s JavaScript Live

Cool this was the main concern I had.

I have just signed up for it myself. For $10 you cannot really complain.

To be honest I think the 27th is correct for sitepoint. Remember they are based in Australia so you need to account for the time difference.

Hey, this sounds fantastic; I’ve just signed up and am looking forward to getting started!

I too am in the UK and am a bit unsure about the times of the live sessions as I won’t be free until 18:00+ GMT really, but as stated you will be able to get hold of the sessions afterwards anyway if needs must…

Will there be a archive for missed sessions? or was this already answered?

Of course, if you can’t make a live Q&A, we’ll archive the recordings for you to watch afterward.

I’m media-poor. I can open a Virtual Box to view any online videos, but beyond text-based participation I can’t do much. Will there be transcripts of Q&As? Another concern is, I’m in the middle of a project (actually 3) so it’s possible I may be able to start on time but then will have to wait a week before hitting the next installment or whatever. Chances are, someone will ask the same Q I have so that’s not an issue… often the Q&A is more valuable than the article itself, on article sites etc. People come up with doozies.

So, is it ok that it’s not quite so “live” for some of us?

I find the experiment rather interesting… not only for learning and improving Javascript but to see how the system works. Very good idea indeed…

I saw this on twitter retweet by Jeffrey Way from nettuts, watched the video and signed up right away! This a great idea and for 10$? such a nobrainer.

Congrats Kevin.

Can’t wait to get started… I feel hopeful that I can finally come to grips with my old nemesis JavaScript.

Bravo to SitePoint and Kevin for a brilliant idea.

Will the videos be downloadable ? I won’t have time to keep up and sometimes on the weekends, I have things to do.

I just signed up for this, can’t afford NOT to. I’ve already gone 8 years without really learning js. I know some, but not nearly enough. I know jQuery better than straight js.

Anyways, can’t wait for this to start!

Learning this kind of stuff is so much more enjoyable (and do-able) in an interactive environment. I am looking forward to getting started. See you next week!

Dianne

Can’t wait to begin. I’ve never done this before. Hope it all goes well.

Can I also point out that this is amazing timing?

I’m studying at website development at TAFE at the moment - and our Javascript Module has just begun…

You are my hero!! :stuck_out_tongue:

The videos will be accessible indefinitely, so even if you fall behind you can come back weeks or even months later to watch them if you need to.

This maybe stupid question but I’m assuming those are for paid members right? As of now I’m researching on tech tutorial videos before I make one myself. Maybe as a teaser, would you make the first video for free? :):) If not, I’ll pay $10 to support this new cool concept.

Which school of negotiation tactics did you go to?

Is Mr Wilkins (pwm57) involved in this? He seems to be our resident Javascript guru.

This is an awesome concept, which I hope grows and becomes prosperous for you and the site, especially at this price point.

I am behind a firewall at work during the live sessions, so was wondering if there was a way to test whether or not the live video and chat would work from behind the firewall. I will most likely be signing up for it either way, but it would obviously make the decision easier. Just waiting to see if I win one of the Twitaway tickets

I just paid (but haven’t registered)… the Q&A session is via some sort of live video? Is this also being recorded for later for when people ask good questions and get good answers?? When I get stuck on something, I know there’ll be several others also stuck on it.

:lol: As I said, it maybe a “stupid” request. But who knows, it may work! Seriously though I am researching on tech videos. I still haven’t found one that’s to my taste…most are just ZZZZZZZ snoozer.
