How to Use Digg for SEO?

Anyone know how does Digg increase your link popularity? How do I go about it? And how does this help my search engine rankings?

Thanks for you advice.

Through digg you cannot simply increase your link popularity. If you want to get a quality back link form digg you must try hard with your profile. But you can increase your traffic through digg.

It’s unlikely that using Digg will have a massive impact on your search ranking, if anything at all. The purpose behind social bookmarking sites is to allow users to share links they like, not to allow site owners to push more adverts on the world, and they’re smart to those tactics.

See Digg article on nofollow links - if you’re Digging your own site, it’s pretty near certain that those links are going to be nofollowed, so search engines will ignore them. The value of Digg is to get real people following the links … but how to do that, that’s a big question. Put yourself in the position of a random surfer. What would encourage you to visit your website?

You cannot get back links from digg. But you can increase your website popularity with this.

There are a lot of social bookmarking and social networking sites on the World. Digg is just one of the largest social networking sites available on the World Wide Web. Digg drives traffic to your website.

Digg died last summer after they forced a broken update on their users to turn it into a fully-fledged social network and content aggregator, rather than a social news website.

As a result of this, a vast majority of their users packed up and left and the results are clear. Their founder and CEO packed up and left, the vast majority of their users moved their time elsewhere and now one only has to look at the front-page of Digg to see that it is laughably dead. Digg never had any SEO benefit to begin with, now it’s probably counter-productive…

The most popular social news website on the Internet right now, by nearly double the users of Digg, is Reddit. Thankfully, for those who just want to use a fun social news website Reddit is extremely hard to game and those who spam will find their sites ridiculed.

you can’t get much backlinks through digg but you can get your website popular through it…just make more followers on it…

I do agree with you on that.Using Digg might be effective if you’re keeping it updated.

Digg is a nice site for traffic, links and branding. But, it always frown upon those webpages or sites that is too commercial for them.

The only reason i use Digg is that when you have a brand new site it can be picked up very quickly infact in some cases just a matter of hours by the search engines, apart from that i dont use it.It is on the decline and it wont be long before it joins the list of ‘has beens’ its a shame but that is how cyber space works sometimes.

Have a re-read through the post I made above yours. Digg died months ago; very few people use it any more and definitely not enough to waste your time trying to promote stuff they don’t want.

yes digg was very popular few months back when it was allowing do follow link but now it is nothing but still if you can get some hundreds digg votes for your story then it would be awesome for you

I don’t think it is worth trying to promote on digg/reddit unless you really have something that people on these sites will like and upvote. Then it is definitely worth it as you can get backlinks from the users of these sites saving your link and putting it on their websites, or blogging about it.

Timing is important on Digg. Timely pieces of content are important no matter which area of the internet you’re trying to appeal to, but as the internet becomes swifter, even the time of day of your post is beginning to count. If your Australian site is aiming to appeal to UK Digg users, it’s a wise idea to hold off your posts until your readers are active. Users tend to be active in the usual peak hours of the net, work hours being particularly popular for social media sites

There is option of submit your website in in Digg. as you know Digg is worlds famous social bookmarking website offering Do-follow URL links which is more use full for search engine ranking and also for traffic at your website.
