I’m not sure if this is the best place to ask these questions or not, but I’m looking for advice from an Internet marketing perspective.
I work for a company that sells promotional products. We have over 300 salespeople that sell promotional products to other businesses among other things. We mostly only do business to business transactions. Our current website(s) are very bad. (http://www.vernoncompany.com)
We have 3 graphics companies that are part of the parent company that design and print graphics for trucks, promotional displays and other large printing jobs. We are currently redesigning our site and there is some discussion about how to handle the unification and marketing of all aspects of the company. These are the sections of our site:
- Promotional Products
- Graphics
- Careers (Sales Reps)
The primary goal from a corporate standpoint to generate revenue is to hire new salespeople to do sales, but the primary focus of the website rewrite has been to create a web store.
The question was brought up about what the front page of vernoncompany.com should be, so I’m asking you what your opinion is:
- Should it be the front page of the web store?
- Should it be a landing page/splash page with corporate information and links to the 3 primary sections of the site?
- Should it be something entirely different?
The second question is, “Should we have 3 separate domains for the 3 sections of our web presence or should they be subdomains or directories within vernoncompany.com?”
- vernoncompany.com – Corporate site with company info
- vernonpromotions.com – Web store
- vernonsales.com – Recruiting site for new sales reps
