How to measure the time in between steps of conversion funnel

Good Afternoon from 14 degrees C mostly cloudy Wetherby UK : -)

Ok so ive set up a Google analytics goal on a contact form which has three steps. But when I look at the google funnelization surprise surprise it doesnt tell me what I’m itching to know regarding the below…

The time it takes between intermediary steps. Ok the above isnt the best example but If I had a goal with multiple steps set up in Google analytics how do i see the time it takes to progress to the next stage.

Does the above article mean I have to wire it up from the get go and its impossible to get time data between steps in A Goal unless Ive configured it in the funnel build?
